In this 2-1/2 day class, we start with our trademark Maine Oar Making Kit which utilizes beautiful, native Spruce for the looms and lightweight Okoume for the blades which can be made spoon shaped or flat blade. Students learn to shape the looms with traditional hand tools, attach the blades, and finishing the oars. You will also learn how oars are sized to you and the boat and customized for your use as well as how lumber is chosen for a project.

Class meets at 8:30 am each morning and goes until 5 pm with a break for lunch. On the 3rd day, we are done by noon.

Take home a new set of oars and new skills and knowledge to apply to this very important part of our boats: the oars that link us to the boat and help propel us through the water.
