Kerisper, this classic, fuel-efficient power skiff by Vivier, is named after a beautiful hamlet along the Brittany coast. She is a stable, seaworthy skiff intended for day boating, fishing, picnicking, and zipping about in both sheltered waters and open coastal waters.

Two interior arrangements are available, a layout presenting a side-console with wheel or a tiller-steered option where the helmsman sits aft. The interior has comfortable seating for up 4 adults with generous side benches up forward and a spacious locker for storage of gear. Flotation chambers fore and aft make this boat very safe and an excellent choice for most any body of water.

Kerisper has the following key features:

  • Stability and ample freeboard making her dry and comfortable

  • A semi-planing hull form that is very fuel-efficient and requires no more than a 20 horse outboard.

  • Sturdy, lightweight construction technique, much like Lilou 2, that combines stich-and-glue with lapstrake construction

  • Benefit from a fully epoxy sheathed hull, resistant to shocks and abrasion, very durable (no risk of osmosis) and easy to maintain.

  • Trailerable and easy to launch and recover with the flat bottom and curving stem shape

Performance is excellent with Kerisper varying with horsepower and, of course, sea state. She can be driven at a relaxing cruising speed with only a 6 hp engine. With a 10 HP and a crew of 3 adults, 13 knots can be maintained, as measured by one of the early hulls in France. With up to a 20 HP, she can go 18 knots which is quite good for a semi-planing hull design.

Kerisper is easy to launch and retrieve with a trailer.

When I look at Kerisper, my imagination immediately goes to the beautiful, meandering rivers and tidal backwaters of the Maine coast, full of wildlife and little islands to explore.

Complete kit contents for the Kerisper

plywood kit | timber kit | hardware kit | Epoxy kit

Lilou 2 is one of the few truly stitch-and-glue designs we carry. The hull is stitched with 9mm Okoume and the holes come predrilled for the wires that hold the panels together. Also stitched in place are the 12mm parts such as the bulkheads (holes predrilled).

The hull timber kit is is mostly select hardwoods and Spruce for the spar kit

15mm Panels may come out of Meranti as an option

Options, upgrades, and accessories for Kerisper

  • Vacuum bag, laminated plywood parts - transom layers

Meranti can be used in lieu of Okoume for 15mm parts (bottom, transom, and frames) for extra durability and strength (does add weight)

  • We can off some choices in hardwoods and trims, mainly Ash vs Mahogany

  • We can assist in choice of outboard motor as well as steering hardware

  • We have sawhorse cradles for storage of your Kerisper

Kerisper uses 9mm Okoume for the hull planking (4 side planks), bulkheads and fore deck; 15mm Okoume for the sole, bulkheads and transom (can be Meranti), as well as chipboard for a cradle. The hull panels fit into the cradle and are stitched together with copper wire in pre-drilled holes for plank edges and transverse structure. The sheerstrake is “lapped” meaning it is glued to the top of plank 3 with a glued-lapstrake type joint, which gives the hull it’s classic, traditional look.
