After the hull is built and all the pieces have been put together, how do you take care of the details? How do you get it ready for varnish and paint? How to you make sure the boat is rigged properly?

If you want to know then his class is for you!

In this fun filled 3-day class, we will finish out a couple Points East Prams that have been built in our Boatbuilding 101 classes in 2023.

Some construction may need to be completed like gluing on rubrails and gluing down tank tops. We will get into the details of shaping the boat and sanding work to prep for paint and varnish. We will install hardware and make sure the hull and deck details are taken care of for rigging the boat. We will try to also cover aspects of painting and varnishing.

The boats will be available to take home at the end of the class. If multiple people want it, there will be a lottery system to decide the winner. The boat cost is the roughly the same as a complete kit plus any additional sub-kits you wish to take with you.

Class runs 8:30-5:00pm daily and we will try to end earlier on the 3rd day for travel.

Lots of places to stay nearby. Loved ones who may wish to join you will find plenty to do here, even in winter, like cross country skiing, shopping in Freeport and Portland, and walks on the beaches of Saco. Click here for workshop information sheet.

A 3 day class that covers many elements of building a kit was a great class for me. The pace was great and I felt like I got to try my hand at all parts of the boat building experience. The only question I have now is which kit do I want to build first!! ~Bill, Boatbuilding 101
