You can see the 9mm bulkheads/frames here.
Here we can see the 5/8" chipboard parts that form the strongback.
Laminating the NC Stem
The stem is precut in the kit and laminating with extra layers of to get the final thickness before beveling and mounting on the strongback.
Building the Strongback
It goes together a bit like a lego. The important thing is to make sure it is secured to the floor and is level/straight!
Set up and Ready to Plank
One of my favorite stages of a build: the set up is ready for the first plank!
Bending the Garboard
The first plank is the garboard and often the most challenging. But from a kit everything jus fits!
Planking is done and turn over is close. This is the time to install the outer stem and prefinish the outside of the boat with primer and a waterline, if you choose.
Much of the set up goes with the boat: the bulkheads act as both the molds, but they stay in the boat to form the transverse structure.
Interior seats and tank tops placed and test fit. You can see the centerboard is also included in the set up which makes it easy.
Bow view of turned over hull
You can see the outer stem. First step after turn over is to bend and attach the gunwales.
