Sail and Row in the prettiest 12-footer...

In this class we will start with a complete kit for the rowing version of this popular 12-foot sail and rowing skiff. With the wood, screws, and glue on hand, we'll start building right away Saturday morning. By the end of the first day, we will have the sides of the hull pulled together and the start of a real boat. Day 2 will involve installing the bottom and gunwales. The 3rd day will be very busy with interior completions and installing hardware so we can launch your new boat!

We can prepare a sailing package for you in advance and, if there is time, get started on the sailing components during class. At the very least, we'll have a daggerboard trunk installed so we can potentially launch the boats at the end of the day on Monday. If you do want to build the trunk into the boat, please be prepared to put in a little extra effort during the class. We can look into an early start for those who want a sailing version.

This is a great class for people who want to build their first boat in an exciting, educational setting and with the guidance of the designer-builder. You will be ready to go home loaded with great memories and a boat ready to sand and paint. Don't worry, we will send you home with everything you need to paint and rig your own Echo Bay Dory Skiff.

We will meet Friday evening at 6pm for a cookout and orientation. Work begins Saturday and ends Monday evening. We'll start at 9am sharp daily and end by 5pm. For those building a sailing version, we can discuss getting in a little extra time on your boat.

Please contact Clint to discuss the sailing rig options or visit the Echo Bay webpage. A sailing kit for the Echo Bay is $(contact me) can be ordered and brought to you at the time of the workshop.

My father, sister, and I really enjoyed building an Echo Bay Dory Skiff in a three day workshop with Clint. It was a fun family project, and Clint was very helpful and knowledgeable. The boat is so beautiful, it has been a pleasure to work on finishing her!
